Gambling involving Dhoni News: The Madras High Court has issued a 15-day jail sentence to IPS officer Sampath Kumar in connection with the contempt case involving former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

In 2013, a complaint regarding gambling during an IPL cricket match prompted IPS officer Sampath Kumar to conduct an investigation. Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni also alleged involvement in gambling, expressing this view during a private television debate.

In response, Dhoni filed a defamation case against IPS officer Sampath Kumar in 2014, seeking 100 crore rupees in damages. Sampath Kumar defended himself by referencing judgments from both the High Court and the Supreme Court.

Dhoni insisted on consequences if the comments made by the IPS officer in his Madhil petition were deemed to tarnish the courts, leading to a contempt of court case against Sampath Kumar.

The contempt case was heard in the Madras High Court by Justices S.S. Sundar and Sundar Mohan, who issued their verdict. Sampath Kumar, upon filing his reply, received a 15-day jail term for contempt of court.
